Structure with a content

In recent years Information Technology (IT) has become a large part of the activities of businesses. Things like e-mail, internet and supporting processes applications are essential for modern business. However, the IT department within a company is often seen as only a cost centre on which the “real” business does not get a grip on. On the other hand, the business also realizes that the power of information is increasingly important in determining the market competitiveness. The IT department now faces two challenges. First, greater transparency of costs should be created. Secondly, the IT department needs to connect with the business (processes). The articles presented here are examples of a structured way to create transparency in the added value of IT to the profitability of the company (do we do the right things). In addition, structures are offered to increase the efficiency of the IT organization (do we do things well).
